How long is the BLS course and what is the cost?
The BLS-HCP course is a 4-hour, fully in-person session. Pricing is as follows:
- Standard BLS course: $60 CAD
- BLS Recertification: $55 CAD (valid non-expired BLS certificate required)
Is the BLS certificate accepted by hospitals and healthcare employers in Ontario?
Yes. The Canadian Red Cross BLS-HCP certificate is widely accepted by hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and healthcare agencies throughout Ontario, including Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph's Healthcare, and Trillium Health Partners. The certificate is valid for 1 year.
Do I receive my certificate the same day?
Yes. A temporary Red Cross certificate is issued the same day you complete your in-person session — so you can present it to your employer immediately. Your official digital certificate is emailed within 7 business days and serves as your permanent record for 1 year.
Can I recertify my BLS at one of your locations?
Yes. We offer a BLS Recertification course for $55 CAD, available at both our Mississauga and Hamilton locations. You must hold a valid, non-expired BLS-HCP certificate to qualify for recertification. If your certificate has expired, you must take the full standard course.

What is the difference between BLS-HCP and standard CPR-C?
BLS-HCP is the clinical-grade standard designed for healthcare providers. It includes advanced skills such as 2-rescuer CPR, bag-valve-mask ventilation, team resuscitation dynamics, and in-hospital code response — skills not covered in the standard CPR Level C course. If you work in healthcare, BLS is the appropriate certification level.
