Frequently Asked Questions — CPR & AED Certification in Ontario

How long does the CPR/AED course take?

Total Time Breakdown

The blended format splits the course into two parts. The online theory takes approximately 2–3 hours and can be completed at home at your own pace. The in-person skills session is typically half a day. You can often complete both parts within the same week.

Is the CPR/AED certificate accepted by my employer and WSIB?

Yes. All our CPR/AED courses are Canadian Red Cross certified and WSIB-approved under Ontario O.Reg 1101. The certificate is recognised by most Ontario employers, schools, childcare agencies, and healthcare institutions. If your employer has specific requirements, contact us before registering and we'll confirm compatibility.

What is the difference between CPR Level C and BLS-HCP?

CPR Level C is the standard for the general public and workplace first aiders. BLS-HCP is the clinical-grade standard for healthcare providers and includes 2-rescuer CPR, bag-valve-mask ventilation, and team resuscitation — skills not in the standard Level C course. If you're a nurse, doctor, paramedic, or medical student, BLS-HCP is the appropriate course.

Do I get my certificate the same day?

Yes. A temporary Red Cross certificate is provided the same day you complete your in-person skills session — valid immediately for employer submission. Your permanent digital certificate is emailed within 2–4 business days and is valid for 3 years.

What should I bring to the in-person skills session?

Bring a valid photo ID and wear comfortable, moveable clothing — you'll be on the floor practising CPR. It helps to bring water and arrive 10 minutes early to complete sign-in. Proof of online theory completion will be verified by the instructor.

Which location should I choose?

All three locations deliver the identical WSIB-approved, Red Cross certified CPR/AED course. Simply choose the one closest to you:

  • Mississauga — best for GTA, Peel Region, Brampton, Oakville, Etobicoke
  • Hamilton — best for Hamilton, Burlington, Stoney Creek
  • St. Catharines — best for Niagara Region, Niagara Falls, Welland, Brock University
Can I reschedule if my plans change?

Yes. Sessions run most days across all three locations. If you need to reschedule, contact us at +1 (289) 890-2898 or info@fagt.ca and we'll move you to the next available date without hassle.

Do you offer group or on-site CPR/AED training for companies?
